Peter McFerran aged just 24 died on 19 Jul 2007. A member of the Royal Air Force Regiment since 2004. He left behind his wonderful parents Bob and Ann, his beloved sister Elaine and brother-in-law Mike.
Pete was tragically killed in a mortar attack on his base in Basrah. He loved his job and it was everything to him. He left so suddenly and I am unsure he knew how much he meant to me. We were friends from college and although we went our seperate ways for a while, we ended up in the same career, he kept in touch and i knew he was always there for me. And i know he still will be there for me. As he will watch over his families, both his immediate family and his 'RAF family'. His life was short but his memory will last forever.
There's not a day goes by without me thinking about you and you thought you'd be forgotten. You'll never be forgotten because you're a hero xxx

Happy birthday son - the 5th one without you and you're missed more than ever. Today we're walking in your memory and I'll know you'll be with us on what you would call a "short walk". Thinking of you now and always
Love always from Mum xxx
We Will Remember
We have been to RAF Honington for the 90th anniversary celebrations. A lot of your friends were there to show us around the displays. I did manage to climb into a WMIC and have a close look at the equipment that you handled. It is not as easy as it looks.
You are still remembered with affection by all.
Today your Mum and I were talking on radio Wales about you and how we miss you every day.
God bless you.

You were worried that you'd be fogotten. No chance of that. A young LAC has just been awarded a top prize in memory of you "The McFerran Prize". No better tribute to a fantastic son. Love always xxx
You said that I go on more parades than when I was in. You were right, I carry the standard now for the RAFA, but what they don't realise is that I carry it in memory of you. You have given me the strength to live although the depression of your parting was hard. I have the pride of an intelligent and brave son.
I miss you.
